I'm looking for a microphone to used with the Sony Hi-MD 800 recorder. Is there one in the box? It should be preferably phantom-powered (but AA battery is fine) and have good sound quality. I'm looking in the fairly inexpensive range. I'm trying to record a band. a cardiod pattern is best, but omni will do as well.

If you want to buy a good budget microphone go for the
Aiwa CM-P11 which can run you about 30 bucks. The left and right of the microphone is separable for greater right/left separation
