Hi!
I just bought two Seagate Barracuda hard drives (Serial ATA, 8MB Cache, 7200RPM) and set a RAID 0. There is an option called "Strip Size". Default is 128kb (I have ABIT IC7 mobo based on i875 chipset with ICH5R south bridge).
So here is a question to RAID users:

What strip size did you set? And why? Did you make some comparisions of performance? What size do you recommend?

Thanks for sharing your opinions!

I don't have RAID, but I have heard that stripe size has very little actual performance difference for most applications. Really small stripe sizes lower performance, but the differences between, say, 64k and 128k will be too small to worry about. I'd say go with the default setting.

I found an interesting post on StorageReview (Gilbo's post, #5) telling why stripe size doesn't really matter. Lots of other good posts on that thread, too.
