Hi all!

I've just get my hands on brand new Prodigy 7.1 LT card and the sound it reproduces is absolutely... well, strange. OK, I'd better describe what I'm talking about smile.gif After uninstalling my old SB Live! and KX drivers, I put the Prodigy and flawlessly installed it's driver pack. Currently I have no audio equipment around, except old headphones, which worked just fine for last few years connected to the Live! card (I'm going to afford Grado SR-60, but in Poland they are priced a bit too high :/). And after connecting the HP, the sound is dimmed and resembles output for effect or surround speakers - with deeply cancelled voice, and emphasized sybilants and highs. When I move the left (or right) volume slider for the headphone (or master, no matter) output all the way down, the sound gets just normal, but mono... All this magically disappears, when I connect my earbuds (sennheiser MX 500) - the sound is perfect on it. I found it after reinstalling, changing PCs and a few hours of desperate searching for any solution... blink.gif Seems, something is wrong with my headphones? (They're still playing perfectly, connected to walkman or any other audio source) It's plug fits perfectly into Prodigy's multiconnector unsure.gif Also, I have only one volume level slider in the Windows control panel for sound [screenshot] Well, sorry for the long post; maybe just anyone has know the problem...

Sounds like you have a short somewhere that causing phase cancellation. My guess would be that on your old headphones, the plug is slightly worn and not allowing a correct or tight fit in the Prodigy's headphone jack.

It took some time to verify your diagnose wink.gif Yes, you were absolutely right. Today I have received my long-time-ago ordered philips hp1000 headphones, and everything sounds perfect. BTW, pretty nice headphones for the price! Maybe not suited for heavy bass fans, but the sound is very precise and detailed - totally different comparing to borrowed Grado SR-60, but I cannot say "worse"! smile.gif Anyone considering new headphones around $100 should definitely give them a try.

Thanx for the reply! smile.gif
