An electric drill with 7mm bit inserted 15mm into each ear hole in turn should render you absolutely oblivious to music of all types (even crappy Hip-Pop).
Having said that you should seek out some good hip-hop, rap and give it a listen. Good hip-hop is not to be confused with the trash that MTV subject us to. For example, I really like the sound of Zola (not really rap, it's kwaito, but most wouldn't make the distinction).
