Hi there!

I was wondering if anyone knows how to install SuSE using the FTP server as source. I have a dial-up DSL connection which requires a password and an user name. The DSL modem is connected to my network card (a Realtek).

I assume that I have to load the network module matching my network card, but then, how do I establish the Internet connection?

I do not understand 'dial-up DSL' connection. Is the connection 'always on' and
support DHCP ?

No, the connection is not always on. It's a PPPoE DSL connection which requires dial-up and username/password input.

You may find a cheap Netgear or Linksys router will save a lot of headaches.
It could do the PPPoE authentication and provide a DHCP address for the Linux install.
Usually less than $50 US.

Edit: Corrected spelling.
