Frank Klemm has put up intructions regarding the use of MPC replaygain:
http://www.uni-jena.de/~pfk/mpp/#replaygain

Also new decoder & replaygain version is available here:
http://www.uni-jena.de/~pfk/mpp/bin/mppdec-windows-0.98w.zip
Winamp plugin in this package is for some reason named winamp.dll. It must be renamed to in_mpp.dll and copied into WinAmp/Plugins directory.

da da da! Somebody to the rescue! biggrin.gif

but that much i already knew, that it's used to alter the gain to make tracks appear to be at the same volume... but how or why is it used for clipping prevention?

How?
Well take it this way, it's like lowering the volume knob in your amplifier. Which it is not the same as normalizing.

Look Guys, I'm sorry for being DOS prompt challenged but could somebody give a DETAILED example of how to use replaygain and explain what has to go where?

Thanks.
