hi everybody. newbie here. I've been working with EAC and Lame now for about a month with much success. I recently started using Razorlame in order to batch encode overnight. So now I'm extracting WAV files in EAC instead of clicking the compress mp3 button. The problem I'm having now though is that my wav files do not contain the artist name info, whereas my mp3's did. So now i have to enter the artist manually after i encode which is a real pain in the butt, especially after a batch encode with multiple artists trying to match up song titles. what am i doing wrong that it worked when extracting and compressing mp3's, but not wav's? thanks for any help.

sorry i should've mentioned something else. I tried changing the naming scheme in EAC with all the %A - %T, etc, and i was able to add the artists name to the file name. However previously, EAC would export the artist name to it's folder directory and place it appropriately in the "Artist" column. now all information (artist, song, album, track#...) dictated by EAC's naming convention command line, is placed under the "song" column. How can I put the cd info in it's appropriate column automatically when extracting WAV's to my hard disc (no compression)?
thanks again for reading my newbie concerns.

Not the answer to your question, but if you want to batch encode overnight with EAC you can pause all encoding taks (Database -> Compression Queue Control Center, check the "Make all compression tasks sleep" option). Then rip away. When you're ready to start batch encoding, simply go into the same menu and uncheck the option. EAC will then start all the queued compressions.

I used to do it that way too. Trouble is wavs don't hold any relevant metadata, so all you have is a filename. You need to use a tag editor like Tag & Rename to perform a 'filename to tag' conversion once you have encoded the mp3s with Razorlame. I used to set up EAC to include all relevant data in the filename, including year, genre, etc. and then convert them to tags with Tag & Rename. This works fine, and the only drawback is that characters that are not available as filenames (such as / : <>) can't be used in the intermediate filename, so keep your eyes out for them.'

Hope you get something working for you.

MJT - If I use your suggestion, will i be able to exit the program and encode at a later time?

This would work great for me, however I don't have that option listed under database or anywhere else as far as i can tell. I am using EAC Ver 0.9 beta 4. what version are you using? should i switch to another version or is this option called something else in mine.

The queue is saved between sessions, so you can close EAC and start the encodes at some other time. As far as the missing Compression Queue Contol, it's there on 0.95 prebeta 4, but I don't know when it was added.

on prebeta 5 it is under tools instead of database.
