I know Audacity, is there more better than it?

Audacity is the best i know of as well im afraid. What specific features were you looking for that audacity doesn't provide?

The ability to edit/cut MP3 files via waveform GUI without re-encoding them (thereby reducing audio quality) ala mp3DirectCut...A must IMHO! When, oh when will Audacity add this feature?

The most important deficiency in Audacity is it's inability to use ASIO drivers.
This means input control is lacking, and e g bit-perfect S/PDIF input is not possible
from USB cards that support that.

Look at Kristal Audio Engine

for a free hd-recorder/mixer/editor that will work with ASIO drivers.

If that's all you way want to talk to the developers a bit, as far as I know they use PortAudio (v19), which supports ASIO.
