Hi all;

I'm wondering if anyone knows how to create a script (or if there is any other way) to tell MP3Gain to run an Album gain for my entire music collection. Its sorted in folders by Album and I'd like to equate the gain for each of them, but if I were to do it manually, it'd probably take me two to three weeks. I don't mind leaving the script running for two or three days, but the hassle of manually setting it up everytime for every folder disagrees with me smile.gif

Any ideas/suggestions?

Thanks guys

I would use foobar2000. I know it works. I did it with my collection of MP3's. I have 2 weeks worth of music without a repeat (playing time) and the replaygain function worked fine. Put it on before you go to bed. cool.gif

Hey, I just checked MP3Gain and it will do the same thing. It is in the Help file. Easy.

Good luck. cool.gif

Note that it only works if you are to playback your files in fb2k or some other replaygain-aware player.

Sorry, I should make this more obvious in the Help file. There is a line that states,
"MP3Gain automatically assumes that mp3s in different folders are in different 'albums'",
but it only says that in one place. Maybe I should repeat it elsewhere.

So yeah, if your mp3s are already organized into folders, then just load the whole folder tree into MP3Gain, press Album Gain, and you're off and running.

Yeah, this is built right into the GUI. It's smart like that. Just select everything and click Album Gain. It'll auto apply album gains to everything in the same folder.

That's it Glen. That's what I found after I took the time to read the help...It's my fault, I know, but I am very lazy about reading help files. I'm quite intuitive when it comes to software so I can pick up what it can do quite quickly, but obviously this is a bad habit smile.gif

Thanks for your note though. And yes, pehaps it would be helpful to put that line in a few more places. wink.gif

Thank you guys and sorry for the unnecessary trouble.

How does one UNSubscribe to a topic? and UNtrack it? I can't seem to find the options. I even glanced at the control panel sad.gif

Thanks again
Synthetic Soul
  1. Click "My Controls" at the top of the page.
  2. Select "View Topics" under "Subscriptions" on the left menu.
  3. Put a check against the topic.
  4. Change the dropdown to "Unsubscribe" if necessary
  5. Click "with selected"
Untrack and Unsubscribe would be the same thing I think.

Thank you smile.gif Could never have found it on my own wink.gif
