Hello

I am wondering if any one knows if there is a way to tell what version of WMA (and or settings) was used to encode a file that was downloaded from the MSN.Music service.

I dowloaded a few songs today. One in particular "Balck Magic Woman,Gypsy Quen" also happens to be the song I have been ripping from a CD using various LAME presets. This way I was able to compare them.

When the MSN/WMA version is played in Windows Media player a box says "160kbps VBR", this coincides with the size of a 160kbps CBR file. According to EAC. (Which is 6.247mb)

By comparison my LAME 3.96.1 -V5 --athaa-sensistivity 1 version of the file (ripped from a CD) is (5.841mb)

I understand VBR file size will vary with the music. But thought this was a good comparison.

Thank you
Randy
