Hi-
I was wondering if any of these file types were convertible to apple lossless using standard itunes software:
Monkey's audio lossless, Optim from lossless, FLAC, PCM wave, WMA 9 lossless
Thanks in advance!

Only PCM (Wave and AIFF).
All the others need to be decoded to PCM first.

What kind of software does one need to make the conversion?
You can convert most filetypes to Apple Lossless through foobar2000 and this:

WAV, AIFF, and WMA can be converted by using iTunes alone.
WAV and AIFF: Drag them into iTunes, set the preferences to import as Apple Lossless, then select your files in the iTunes library, right click, and Convert to Apple Lossless.
For WMA, just make sure you have the preferences set to import as Apple Lossless, then just drag the WMAs into iTunes. It'll convert WMAs as it imports them.

http://losslessaudiocompression.com/Download/iTunes for Windows can import WMA, as otto42 said. But the Mac OS X version can't.
