Hi all,

Avatar pictures are now disabled in order to save bandwidth, because we will be hitting very close to the monthly bandwidth limit (20gig/month) after the next 6-7 days.
Fortunately we are also going to move to another server with very much higher bandwidth limit in the next couple of days. Software is being installed to the new server as we speak.
So the disabling of avatars for now is done in order to give us just a bit more bandwidth if things don't quite go as planned for the new server.

Avatars could and should be disabled permanently.

Avatars should be possible with a size of up to 720 x 576 pixels.
The following formats should be supported:

* BMP
* GIF
* PNG
* JPG
* MNG
* MPG
* AVI
* VOB
* MOV
* FLC
* FLI

Size should not be limited by things like a 2 Gbyte boundary and other unnecessary stuff.

Only if you use 56K modem or lower.. Otherwise you could use much higher resolution..

Hey, don't forget .MOV, or .VOB.

I got an even better idea, howabout we start using sound avatars!!

Yeah, just imagine... .MP3, .MPC, .OGG, .AAC.

yeah, dont forget that my inet browsing machine is a 800x600 laptop, i've seen people having sigs bigger than my screen on some forums around (not here).

A page showing 20 postings from 20 different persons having sound avatars ...

I think it works fine the way it is now. People who don't like avatars can disable them.

I couldn't use the upload function for avatars with a png-file:

With .gif it works fine.

I doubt that Dibrom will be anything but delighted by those sounds
