That thread made me to start this poll. I'm curious what's the relation between age, "working status", and number of donating members here on HA and generally on things like web-forums.

Of course I do!
I guess most people at my age (30++) do so... biggrin.gif

What's this stuff?????? No category for us retired seniors? You young whipper-snappers just don't give no respect....... smile.gif

I'm a student and I have a small job to pay the rent for my flat, the hosting for my program - and of course the small donation to HA smile.gif

I'm still studying though I got a not-quite-so-small job. It's a though combination but my employer is nice and understands the situation (are you reading this Jim???) smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif

No category for 65 and retired? Prejudice?! cool.gif

I just work on Saturdays....I'm a student in school right now. Although I am 31 which is a little late, but I got sick of dead end jobs and decided to bite the bullet and get a degree(Computer Science/B.S.). Hopefully when I'm done I'll finally be able to get a good career in the States(would be nice if greedy corporations were forced to stop outsourceing). If not I'll move to Europe and try and get a career there because I'm sick of the loser lifestyle.

I'm sort of on the border of being age to work and not.. I am in highschool at any rate.. I will try to get a job at a computer store soon. smile.gif

Heh, sorry guys, should include "retired" answer indeed, didn't think about it for some reason. Anyway, since you probably get some pension/retiring/annuity/rent/perpetuity for the hard job u did in your lifes (like starting WW2 wink.gif ), you can answer "Yes, being my age I need to" smile.gif
Garf
I added the option.
rutra80
Thanks, but shouldn't it rather be "Yes, it's a retiring/rent though"? People do get some money while being retired or ill...
nvivison
What about those of us who are too ill to work?

I want to be able to work, but with the amount of days I would take ill each year (I average around 1 week per month where I am too ill to do anything) I wouldn't be able to keep a job for very long.
rutra80
I think you can answer "No, though I should/am old enough to work" if you don't get any money, or the last answer (about retirement) if you have some rent for being ill. This poll is not about why you work/earn money or why not, but about if you do or do not.

Then it's more "do you earn money" and not "do you work".

At least in my country, the parents get money if they have children that don't work yet. So there wouldn't a non-money-earning category then.

I don't think counting social security as earning money makes sense.
rutra80
It's about both things, but yes - more about money. Still, who would you rather expect to spend money on things like web-forum donations or shareware fees (in the meaning of being responsible for their own money): a 15yo kid, or 65yo retired man? I'd expect the latter. That's why I think there should be "yes".
Garf
I think the question is stated wrong, then.
rutra80
"I am retired" is a good compromise smile.gif
