Thechnically, this link points to surround, not multichannel implemetation.
Meg2 layer 3 defines multichannel (if I remeber it correctly) but no one have bother himself with implemetation.

How do I know if a .mp3 file is multichannel.
The ID bit it the header does tell about lower sampling frequency? but nothing about multichannel?
Kr,
Avi

You have to check into ancillary data, in a similar way as with Layer II.
But for Layer III I do not think you have to care as until now there is NO publically available tool to create multichannel layer III files.
