Full Version: Burning Two Albums On One CD-R Using EAC Cue Sheet

Hi,

I have two albums that I downloaded in .wav format, and want to burn them to one cd-r. Each track is a separate .wav file. I want to have a few second gap between albums, or whatever is feasible. My question is, using the Exact Audio Copy .cue sheet, how do I separate the albums? Would I start off the second album by using 'Append Track As New Index', or another option? I tried append as new index, but the last track from the first album, and first track from the second album were connected, as per opening track 10 of the first album with Burrrn, and then opening in Winamp.

Thanks For Any Help.. -Rob

If I'm reading you right, the 2 albums total less than 80 minutes and you want them both on a playable audio CD (as opposed to data)?

I haven't used EAC, so don't know if the .cue sheets are exactly compatable, but for a 1 shot you could edit them..

cdwave will take a wave file and cue sheet and split the wave into named single track wave files. Do that with both your full-album wav's then you should be able to set them all up for a burn with 2 second gaps.

Burrrn (don't know about BurnAtOnce) can combine two cuesheets IIRC

You can manually merge both Cue sheets into one Cue sheet. It's not difficult to do this for Cue sheets for separate tracks: just add the code from one to the other. I'm willing to do it if needed (just post the Cues here).

However there is one tricky thing with Cue sheets: what type are they? (and of course: are they the same type - 'compatible', as DonP called it). To verify that you must be able to recognize the different types of Cue sheets. I learnt that by making different Cue types with EAC and comparing the code (for a quick start on Cue sheets see the link in my signature). What do you risk if they are not the same type of Cue sheet? They will probably be accepted by any program and burn fine, but gaps (pauses) will be shifted by a second or two.

Note that most people don't know much about Cue sheets, so Cue sheets you find on the internet might be wrongly made (i.e. be a type that doesn't correspond with the WAVs), resulting in shifted gaps. 'EAC Default' Cue sheets can maybe be trusted, but other types are probably better not used. Just burn the tracks, and if you use Nero, don't let it insert pauses.

The way you got it right now, you can just put all those into one big cue sheet, changing the Unforgettable File track numbers from 01-10 to 11-20. If you want a gap between the albums, do this:

FILE "C:\Converted Music\Beatles - Doctor Ebbetts - U.S\U2 - The Unforgettable Fire - 01 - A Sort of Homecoming.ape" WAVE
TRACK 11 AUDIO
PREGAP 00:03:00
INDEX 01 00:00:00

EDIT: Removed the REALLY big quote.

Thanks very much for the help. Worked out great. -Rob

Fine. smile.gif

By the way,

From the Cue sheet we can see that there are no pauses between the tracks.
As a result there is no difference between the different types of Cue sheets (in this special case).
Also, in this special case there is no added value of using a Cue sheet.

A big wav file won't have the song names, even coded in the file name. Hopefully the burn program could pick those up from the cue sheet for CD text.

You have a point, and also there are possible ISRC codes. But I was thinking about indexes, which is probably the main reason for using a Cue sheet.
