Hello,
I'm a long time LAME user and just started ripping my audio tapes using audiograbber. However, I see the need to split my audio files in to smaller sizes, and join others together. I remember a free utility that I had a few years ago that had all of this (soundforge?) but it doesn't seem to be free anymore. Any recommendations for what I'm trying to do?
thanks!

for lossless editing MP3s, see
this thread.
SoundForge is not free and has never been AFAIK.
if you need a free audio editor that is capable of joining / splitting wave files
Audacity might be worth a try.

Cool beans! This program looks great--- I can hardly believe it's free!
Even though it's powerful, it would be nice to find something that will take a 30 minute mp3 or wav file and automatically divide it in to 5 minute segments. I see that I can do it with Audiograbber, but if I'm going to do this for a few hundred recordings, it can become labor intensive.
thanks!
