I think that metada (artist, title...) are set into udta Box (Is it right?). I've box (embeded into udta) such 'albm' box, 'gnre' box, 'titl" box... Are they officialy specified somewhere? Are they proprietary boxes?

They are Apple's invention.
Yes you are right. They have their own proprietary box 'meta' where are stored all meta informations. But it seems to have been weel adopted. For example Winamp player is able to read metadata of itunes encoded mp4 files...
Yeah. It has become de facto standard.

The best "documentation" I have found is in mpeg4ip's libmp4v2.HTH...
