It already exists since end 2001 or so. I don't know of anyone who ever got access to an encoder, hence nobody ever tested it.

Bleh. They are badly behind the competition. Microsoft claims CD quality for WMA at 64kbps, CodingTech claims the same for MP3pro at 64kbps, and Ahead claims the same for NeroDigital for 48kbps tongue.gif

I guess what we should say is that what companies claim to be true is not always the truth. Microsoft of all companies bullshits us telling us that WMA is transparent at 64kbps? BULLSHIT! LOL. biggrin.gif I just laugh at that statement. Yeah, maybe for people with no ears. laugh.gif

However, I have heard good things about AVC. Isn't it based on AAC or something related to it? And I am eager to hear it. However, like rjamorim said, what a company claims to be true, is not necessarily the case. We really need to judge for ourselves.

avc, as defined in mpeg-4, is video coding technology and has nothing to do with audio coding

this avc audio codec from on2 is proprieatary and surely has nothing to do with aac (and of course even less with mpeg-4 avc)
