Hi,
Is there a tool which can remove all kinds of tag data from a file. I currently use tag and rename but it only deletes the usual fields like artist album etc but leave others like plaY_counter from foobar and encodedby from razor lame? Is there a tool that removes every single tag?
Thanks
Florian

You can use the "Remove Tag" feature of
Mp3tag, which removes all fields of the tag formats specified at "Options, Tags, Mpeg" (currently ID3v1 with Lyrics3, ID3v2 and APEv2).
Best regards,

Try tag.exe
tag --remove bla.ext

Google for "TidyMP3". It will remove all tags, of all types, from an MPEG 1 Layer 3 file. It works not by removing tags, but by keeping anything that looks like music and dumping everything else.
Works fine with VBR files, but I have had problems using it on music that is less than 128 kbps before. So avoid it for low bitrate files.
If it really worked as you described you'd also lose the Xing/LAME header, which includes information regarding gapless playback.

Then that is probably lost too. I'm just going by what the author says on the webpage about how it works.
Fortunately, I don't care about gapless playback except in extreme circumstances. The webpage is here:

It seems like it keeps the Xing/LAME headers.
mp3tag works for me

. Never had any problems...there's also a feature that allows you to see all values inside the tag...very cool
