I get tired of switching between album and track replaygain values, depending on what I'm listening to. It'd be really cool if there was a plugin that could determine (based on playlist order and playmode) whether you're listening to consecutive tracks from the same album or not, and set the replaygain playback setting accordingly.

I apologise if there is already something like this - I've had a bit of a look around but couldn't see anything.

Am I the only one who thinks this would be useful?

Well I don't really understand why you need this feature... Usually album and track replaygain values are not that different from each other, I doubt you'd notice if you always used the album mode...(I guess you know that if a track has only track RG value, foobar will use that, even if you set it to use album)

The easiest solution is to put it on the playback menu, so you don't have to open preferences (this is what I have done). kalmark is right however, it is unlikely you will notice a difference between the two in most situations.

This may be the case for modern pop and rock music, but i have experienced the opposite - they can often be very different. But from my experience trackgain is inefficient even for random-playback. Thats because the replaygain algorythm is not all that perfect and with my music often assigns too high or too low values when validating it with the real perceived loudness. But albumgain, as a sideeffect, is less vulnerable to this because of its intention. Thats why i use albumgain even with mixed playlists - that usually gives me more constant loudness than trackgain.

I've just made a Replaygain submenu in Playback main menu and also bound them to hotkeys. Very easy. See no need for a plugin.

Disabled Alt+0
Track Alt+1
Album Alt+2

I don't think that's true. Maybe for modern overcompressed pop/rock, but for a nice dynamic album there is often up to 6 db difference in the Track gain values within an album, which you can definitely notice.

I know I can make hotkeys and menu items for these items (I already have) but when you're switching playback order mode, replaygain, and crossfader (continuator) enabling, it's a lot of things to change when switching from album listening to mix listening. I just thought if it could be automated where possible, it'd save a bit of hassle.
