Full Version: Can "Hybrid SACD" be ripped?

I know SACD can't be ripped, but what about "hybrid" discs? As I understand, they are supposed to play as a regular CD in a red book player, but add on the SACD content when played in an SACD player.

Has anyone confirmed one of these can be ripped in a normal CD-ROM drive?

Thanks.

I successfully copied Pink Floyd's "The Dark Side of the Moon" hybrid SACD using my LITE-ON LTR-52246S and EAC. My LG DVD-ROM drive didn't had any problem reading the disc as well, but I heard that other DVD devices fail to read the disc because they think it's a DVD.

Yes, my factory-standard Dell drive (I don't recall the actual model -- starts with HG- something) has no problem ripping hte CD layers of the dozen or so SACD hybrids I've tried.

My only SACD-Hybrid (Dark Side Of The Moon) wouldn't rip in my NEC DVD+RW drive, but I had no trouble ripping it with an old generic 50x CD-ROM drive.
