I appreciate all of the great info here and some of it may be more than necessary for my simple needs. I really like the ease of use for MMJB 9.0 plus and the ability to manage my library. Granted I may be missing out on a better listening experience, but here is the key question:

If I am constrained to continue using MMJB, what would be the best settings to create MP3s from my 200 CDs?

I want to keep my kbps to at least 160 but less than 192 due to file size. I have heard some good things about VBR and feel that this coupled with other MMJB settings could come closer to what most of you experience with LAME or others. I know I can do better than 128 kbps at CBR but also want to make sure I can use these MP3s on an Ipod.

Thanks in advance for the help!

--alt-preset fast standard !!!!!

no reason to use MMJB....... --alt-preset fast standard (v3.97) is indeed very fast and i think it is faster than Fraunhofer Fast codec

Thanks for the advice. MMJB does have some short comings but I still want to use it. Just thought someone may have tested some of the settings and found something optimal.
