I am trying to access BBC Radio streams and have found 2 issues that I can't seem to solve. The streams are part of the BBC radio "Listen Live" or "Listen Again" feeds that call up a browser window as the player. (This requires Real or Real Alternative to be installed). If you look at the player window frame source you can extract and create the URL's to play in Winamp or QCD using the Tara plugin. E.g. http://www.bbc.co.uk//radio/aod/sho...radio2/ross.rpm - Jonathan Ross or http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/show...2_bobharris.rpm - Bob Harris.

I have been trying to play these streams to a second soundcard but this never works. Always the primary sound card is used for these streams. The same behaviour happens with both QCD and Winamp 2.91. Anyone know why this is or knows of a way to achieve this?

Also these streams cannot be converted and saved to another format such as mp3. Anyone know a way around this?

My aim here is to stream these streams to a remote USB soundcard that is not used as the PC's primary sound card.

I can't really give any help with the second sound card. However, if you use the Tara plugin for Winamp the diskwriter output works. This should allow you to convert to any format you desire.

Alternatively, I would suggest simple downloading the stream using NetTransport

You can download the RealAudio files directly from the BBC servers to your hard drive.

NetTransport sounds like it might work. I have downloaded it and so far it looks like it is downloading the .rpm stream OK. I will report back. Many thanks.

NetTransport worked very well and saved the .rpm streams as .ra files. However, the .ra files exhibit the same behaviour as the .rpm streams.

E.g. If I create a playlist of mp3 files with one of the .rpm streams or saved .ra files in the playlist, setup the media player (Winamp of QCD in this case) to output to a second soundcard. The mp3's all play to the external (non primary sound card as setup) but as soon as the playlist progress gets to the .rpm or .ra files, the sound card switches to the primary sound card. Weird. As if media player input format dictates the output format.
