Glad to see others interested in this "project." I agree that wxMusik has many more features than musikCube. Why did they split in the first place? Doesn't this hurt both of the players' chances of interest and development against established players (i.e., foobar)? Can't we all just get along to make a better player?

It seems like wxMusik has a few bugs in it, at least on my system, and I like the UI of musikCube better, but I am sure wxMusik could probably acheive the same thing.

I just tried wxMusic, thanks for the link, and it could almost be decent competition to foobar, it just needs a critical mass of developers I think. I'm looking for something along these lines - foobar2000 running on linux would definitely ease a transition to that platform, but in the meantime this is worth watching. It has loads of gaps, but the developer seems keen. Nice.

foobar2000 has been quite silent (not that it needs that much improving though).

wxMusik/musikCube needs support for MPC, ReplayGain and gapless MP3 if it wants to replace good ol' FB2K on my computer. Even my sister loves it now (and she hated it at first).

Well, WxMusik plays MPC and has a cross-fader. So for listening there's no need for gapless as you won't hear any gap.

FB2K is a decent player but organizing or searching a huge collection is a pain. That's why I like WxMusik. Fast and easy database, drag and drop, playlists and albumart.

Cheers.

Crossfading != gapless playback. With some track changes, a crossfader can never get the timing 100% correct. Just try it with these samples.

I gave it a whirl and it was tremendously unstable.

@Benjamin

Did you try using previous libmusepack? wxMusik hasn't adopted the API change yet, but will do so shortly.

It runs on my Gentoo w/o problems, including monkey audio and flac support.
