Ideally to be able to copy the mp3s in a playlist to a CD burner but just to be able to copy the files to a directory would be ok. any ideas?

Select files in playlist -> right click selection -> Masstagger -> Move, rename or copy files.

Or, just right-click>drag em to a folder.
