ok, where to start. I am in need of the coreAAC decoder. i downloaded a version of it, but the coreAAC web site says it needs to be compiled and shoved somewhere in my system folder. Since i don't know how to compile it, they linked me here for a version that is compiled and has an installer. can anyone point me in the right direction to find this file?

The one linked above comes already compiled. Put it wherever you want it (system folder works well), and run the bat file or register it yourself with regsrv32.

ok thx. i have done this, but i am still back at my original problem. I was having an audio problem with certain .mkv files. someone on a forum told me to change something under filter properties -> Core AAC. i didn't have core AAC there, so i decided to go download it. however, even after registering this file, i still see no choice for Core AAC under filter properties :< . I am using the core media player, by the way.

I no longer have a problem with AAC. I didn't have CoreAAC on my lst because ffdshow audio decoder is handling my AAC. This thread is no longer needed, so if any admins are reading this feel free to delete it.
