I recently made a digital recording (.wav format) of an important lecture/discussion. Unfortunately toward the end i noticed that my PDA had frozen up and I had no choice but to do a soft reset. I didn't have a chance to save the file, but when I got home found the file on my SD card using a SD card reader. The file properties indicated that the full file size was there, however, I can not open the file. WMP gives me the following error, C00D109B, and says that I don't have the correct codec. None of the audio software I have will open it.

Is there any hope of recovery of this wav file? W/out spending a large sum of money for software that I don't will work. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

You could load the file into Cool Edit (or Audition) as "PCM raw data." (You will need to tell it the sampling rate, number of channels, and so on.) After it loads, immediately save it as a "Windows PCM" .wav file and it will then be playable. If necessary, you can go back and edit out any bad places in the audio.
