What settings do I put for --alt-preset standard? Is it VRB 4 and quality high?
Thanks
Benjamin Lebsanft
slightly OT: what prevents you from using the .exe ?

Um, nothing, but I was told intenal is better quality. External is "%s %d --alt-preset standard" riight?
Benjamin Lebsanft
why should dll and exe differ in quality if you use the same Version of lame ?

don't know how AG handles in and outfile but the german AG forum says "--alt-preset standard %s %d"

I don't think there's a switch equivalent for --preset standard

There is (at least with Lame 3.95 and newer): Just use VBR 2 and quality=high, this gives the exact same result as --preset standard, no matter if the dll or exe is used. Alternatively, if you prefer to use Lame 3.90.3, you can download a modified dll from rarewares.org which can be configured with an .ini file to encode in --preset standard no matter what options are passed to it by the frontend. However, there's no reason not to use the lame.exe - and I just love those DOS-windows popping up and the *'s and %'s rolling along laugh.gif

well...right, -V2 is the same like --preset standard , but that's just the modern way of presenting the presets...

Using the 3.96.1 lame_enc.dll.....

* Select: variable bitrate
* Select: method=old
* On the low to high quality slider move it to vbr 2
* Quality: Joint Stereo/Normal
