What is that white row in the upper part of the sidebar? Is it a playlist find window? How did you put it there?
Can I put there an extended database search instead?
Can I stack somewhere an extended playlist generator window or panel?

Is it possible to change font and/or font size in the middle of a row or among rows?
Does the variables defined in columns ui global section work in all the other plugins?

Can I show the current system time in the track info panel?

I haven't seen the screenshot, but if it is in fact the playlist find plugin, you can add it as a toolbar, just as you would add any other toolbar (or panel) from context menu, after right clicking the toolbar or a caption in the sidebar. At least this is possible with version 0.8.7 of foo_playlist find.

Having got a DIGN case with a LCD display and a remote control (with Girder too), which plugin should I have a look at in order to have the title of the playing song shown in the display and the remote work with FB?
I already have a wireless Logitech keyboard whose multimedia keys are working well with FB and with no need of a Girder but, as you can imagine having to keep with you a whole keyboard just to use the five keys for playback is not the best solution.

I haven't looked into the use of LCD displays and Girder, so I can't help you there. My best tip is to try a search, as I'm pretty sure I've seen threads covering both topics.
