I am noob to ripping cd's, altho I have ripped all my cd's with musicmatch at 128k and thought that was quite enough. That was done a number of years back when I did not even know what vbr is. Now, I have some new cd's to rip. I have read, found and decided to use EAC-LAME and succeeded to do it with id3v2 tags. I have also used musicmatch (VBR) option and it was quite a bit faster, and it also gives an album cover art which I can use in my XLOBBY (a HT front end).

My questions are:

1. Is EAC-LAME (vbr 128-320 V4 options) better than musicmatch(VBR setting)?

2. If EAC-LAME is better, how can I get the album art attached to the file? I tried to explore with The Godfather which brings up the cover art, but I have not been able to find out how to save it). I also tried to re-tag with musicmatch but it will not bring up the cover art.

Thanks for all the help in advance.

1. Yes, it will be better, but why not use one of the presets? --preset standard is rather highly recommended and tested.
2. No clue.

Thanks. I am using this:

--alt-preset standard --add-id3v2 --pad-id3v2 --ta "%a" --tt "%t" --tl "%g" --ty "%y" --tn "%n" --tg "%m" %s %d

But, I really need the cover art. Anyone else have any idea. TIA.

OK. I found a trick. In musicmatch, I removed all tags, and then tag again and it will bring in the cover art. Too bad I cannot do it all in one step.
