Hi,

I'm searching for a MP3-Player, where I can plug my USB-Harddrive to, so that I do not have to copy in any way the MP3s from the Harddrive to the the MP3-Player. The MP3-Player should play the Files directly form the plugged USB-Harddrive.

Is there something like that? It does not have to be portable, I should say. Stand-alone would be fine, too.

thanks

The latest Archos players with USB-to-go can do this. Not sure if they can play directly off the USB device though.

This USB-to-go-thing sounds interesting.
Any other MP3-player (stand-alone or portalbel) with that feature?

I've been looking for something very similar with no such luck. Ultimately I'd like to get one of those 3.5" external usb/fireware enclosures but with an mp3 player slapped on the front. It'd be cool if it snapped off and was a small flash player by itself, but at this point even an integrated mp3 player would be cool. Note I said 3.5" though. Those little 80gb expensive as hell laptop drives ain't gonna cut it. Maybe I'm the only one that doesn't care about the size of what I'm lugging around as long as I can slap a 250gb drive in it and store all my mp3's and flac's on it (even if it wouldn't support flac playback)

Pinnacle is going to launch the ShowCenter 200 in april in France, where you'll be able to plug a USB drive formatted in FAT32 or FAT16.
News here (in french, 2nd block of text) :

Price will be: 279€

This seems to be a multimedia player with no DVD drive but ability to play audio or video content from external storage: PC (via WiFi) or USB drive.
