Does any one know if there is a hotkey for assining a rating in foobar.
I've searched the forums and google but not found any.

I dont feel like finding the thread, but search for foo_quicktag, that is commonly used to rate a mp3 with the context menu (which you could assign a hotkey to) the plugin is by musicmusic

preferences > core > keyboard shortcuts

in the actions box choose: [context / now playing] Quick Tag/Rate 5 (for example)
enter key combination
make it a global shortcut
add to the list of assigned shortcuts
save & exit
enjoy rating your files anytime you like without switching focoos to foobar
