Hi!

I'm experiencing a strange problem using Winamp to play audio on my Dio 2448 sound card in Windows XP SP2. I'm using the latest (but old) WDM drivers from M-Audio's website. Player is Winamp 5.08e with DirectSound output plugin.

The audio plays fine, but when I stop playing, a noise is heard for 1-2 seconds. The volume of the noise seems to depend on the volume of the song when I press stop. It seems the card keeps outputting the last sample for a few seconds before the output is "turned off". I've tried just about every setting in the DirectSound output plugin, but there was no improvement. I've tested other sound cards and they don't have this problem. Testing with Windows Media Player there is still the sound, but it's duration is much shorter.

What could be causing this and is there a way to fix it?
