When using the various Nero AAC VBR options for encoding files, I get file sizes much higher than those mentioned in the AAC plugin, e.g. the "streaming" option gives me an average bitrate of 190Kbps and the "internet" 157Kbps. How come? Are the file size estimates mentioned in the AAC plugin not accurate?

Known problem. The high bitrate profiles will be replaced eventually, the descriptions are a bit outdated for the current ones.

So, If I want an average bitrate of 128Kbps using VBR, which setting should I use?

VBR internet is the closest.

Well, this option gives me bitrates around 150Kbps and the "radio"
option around 100Kbps...

Try with ::internet:: and fast mode.
