Hi,
It is well knows that music heavily influences the mood of people but I am wondering if anyone has any links on this regarding metal music. I remember reading that the screaming of the vocalist and guitars trigger something in the brain which releases adrenalin or something….

Does anyone know anything about this topic I am interested what makes me so angry and aggressive and feel super strong when I listen to hard aggressive metal.

If you would like to discuss music which makes you happy or depressed go ahead.

looking through the eyes of Darwin, it was / is probably benefiting for your survival (and your species) that you react appropriate according to the mood of someone you meet.
from a gene centered POV, if someone you don't know is aggressive (against you) and you react in a aggressive way too, your chance of survival may increase.

this may be one very basic explanation of this situation.

Music can give a lot of feelings. I listen to some metal tunes, and think myself "this is too beautiful", even if the guy is screaming like a devil (now im listening to ebony tears - opacity). I dont think metal always make you feel angry and agressive, it depends on you.

I agree. I listen to a lot of Iron Maiden. Every time I listen to "Hallowed Be Thy Name", I get goose-flesh. I am more immersed in what the main character of the song is feeling at that moment rather than how pitched Bruce Dickonson's vocals are in that song. To me, the song is a perfect blend of beautiful lyrics, great guitar-work and amazing vocals.
Rather than make me feel all pumped up and ready to go, it makes me sit down and ponder on the last line of the song.
See? Metal music may not necessarily discharge adrenaline into your blood. It depends on you.
