Full Version: Hope for improved battery life with ogg in Daps

I have noticed that iRiver has neglected to include ogg vorbis support in one of their new line HDD players. This is perhaps related to the less than stellar battery life ogg vorbis in its most current format offers in comparison to mp3LAME.

This move on the part of iRiver and perhaps other DAP manufactures is disconcerting as I feel using my ears, my gear and my music, ogg offers the playback and storage that best suits my DAP requirements.

Having been away from HA for some time due to the requirement of obtaining food and shelter, have there been any developments in developing a ogg vorbis lite or ogg vorbis II which is tailored to the unique requirements of DAP users?

I have searched the archives with minimal success due in most part to my POS ISP and cumby dial-up connection from China. It takes me 5 minutes for a page load hence the new thread.....many sorries for this.

Any kind soul out there willing to address this question without flames or the “search the forum” would be considered a friend for life.

Nope. At least nothing that has seen the light of day yet...
