Has anyone seen a problem forcing the overwrite of existing files with FLAC 1.1.2?

Running Windows XP Pro, using:

"C:\Program Files\FLAC\flace.exe" -f -5 "<source>" -o "<output>" -T ...

I've party figured out what I'm seeing. It looks like FLAC _is_ correctly overwriting the output file when told to do so. That's good.

But the Date Modified that I see in Windows Explorer never changes, which is why I thought the files weren't being overwritten. I'm seeing the Date Modified on all .flac files that are equal to the date on the source file used to generate the file. So all of the Modified dates on the .flac files are earlier than their Created dates, which makes no sense.

Does FLAC purposely "touch" the Date Modified on the output file so that it's the same as the source file??? Why?

yes, this is following the tradition of unix compression programs like gzip.
