First time caller. I am transfering my analog tapes to HD using Audacity as a recorder. I can play the resulting 24 bit WAV files (44, 48, or 96) but if I convert them to FLAC, they will not play... in any player. All I get is low volume white noise.
If I use 16 bit, they play fine. I know that FLAC supports 24 bit so... what am I doing wrong?

Never mind. Dbpoweramp converter problem. Command line and Flac Frontend work.

The FLAC component in dBPowerAMP is very odd, IMO. For some strange reason, it encodes MUCH slower than any other version of FLAC.
A new beta release of 1.1.2 of dBpowerAMPs FLAC is in the beta section on the dbpoweramp forum (there was a bug where data was not coming out block aligned and various encoders chocked on that).

Using the latest? there was an older version of FLAC that only had 3 compression modes, the current release has all 1-8 compression modes that are identical to FLAC.exe speed wise it should be the same. Not to mention 1.1.2 has speed increases also.
