Tomorrow morning, I will burn a CD/MP3 for my SlimX at my friend's (I don't have a computer) and I need to know the best VBR codec and/or settings to use with EAC.

I need to compress 13 CDAs (about 65 minutes each) on one CD-R.

Thanks,
Christian

CDA's is not audio data.
They are just references to the actual audio track on the cd.

Use --alt -preset standard and two cd's instead of one.

If this is totally the wrong answer and you need it all on one cd, try --alt-preset 128. That should be about right for that many cd's.

Thanks. That's VBR? Right? Are you a SlimX user? I was asking this question specifically cause it seems that not all VBR settings work fine with the SlimX.

Yes I need it on one CD. I have Bach's complete works for organ and never listen to it as much as I want cause there's too many CDs. That way, I'll always keep it in my SlimX.

I usually use CBR but I wanted to try VBR for once. And it will be the first time I'll be using EAC. So...

Anyway. I'm on my way now to my friend's so I'll try to work it out with "--alt-preset 128" and find what that means in EAC !

Thanks again,
Christian.

I think "audio-CD" was meant rather than "CDA".

One thing I've been told (don't know whether you guys know) is that even a proparly made VBR MP3 will not play properly on the ChromeX/SlimX if an ID3v2 tag has been added.

I've had my SlimX for about a month now and have not run across anything it couldn't play, --alt-preset standard, extreme, --alt-preset 160 (my prefered quality/size ratio) however, I had read about problems with ID3v2 tags and thus avoided them, but ID3 v1 works fine... B)

P.S. I can't say enough about the SlimX. Great unit...
