So here's my problem. I have about 200 classical cd's that I want to backup as APE files so that I if I need to convert to some future codec, I just decompress, mount, and rip. The problem for me is that I have custom typed in a wordpad document, all the cd titles for my cd's. The CDDB and freedb either dont have many cd's of mine or are innacurate.
One way I thought I could avoid typing the info in each time would be to use the cue file and put the info there, so I just mount it and its in, the problem is there doesnt seem to be a composer category and I use artist for the conductor/orchestra so I dont have room.

I thought a second option would be to maintain my own local freedb list so I search each time i need the track info but only type it in once. I havent used it before but Im assuming I can type in my own to it?

I just started using cdex and would like to continue doing so but it also seems to not have a composer box.

What do you think is my best option?

thanks.

Cue-files created by EAC contain PERFORMER information for the disc as well as for each track, which I sometimes use the as follows:

PERFORMER "Jean Sibelius"
TITLE "Symphonic Poems"
REM REPLAYGAIN_ALBUM_GAIN +1.43 dB
REM REPLAYGAIN_ALBUM_PEAK 0.921813
FILE "Sibelius - Symphonic Poems.flac" FLAC
TRACK 01 AUDIO
TITLE "Finlandia op. 26 no. 7"
PERFORMER "Berliner Sinfonieorchester, Kurt Sanderling"
INDEX 01 00:00:00
REM REPLAYGAIN_TRACK_GAIN +1.40 dB
REM REPLAYGAIN_TRACK_PEAK 0.719299

The conversion to lossy is then done by either recompressing the whole sample or using foobar2000, which converts the info to:

ALBUM = Symphonic Poems
TITLE = Finlandia op. 26 no. 7
ARTIST = Berliner Sinfonieorchester, Kurt Sanderling
ALBUM ARTIST = Jean Sibelius
TRACKNUMBER = 1

ALBUM ARTIST instead of COMPOSER may not be exactly what you want, but it works for me. Plus there's no need to uncompress the sample to mount it in some virtual drive.

You might also want to mention the composer in the TITLE only, maybe "Jean Sibelius - Symphonic Poems"

one problem I have is something like "romantic adagios" which contains multiple orchestras/conductors and multiple composers.

Is there not line I can add like composer for each track that will show up in encoding programs?

I noticed Foobar can add composer to the cue but it doesnt show up in the actual cue file, why is this? Can I add it somehow?

Thanks.

magic5227:
I have clients who keep a big excel spreadsheet of all their music. It's a fairly simple matter to use the spreadsheet program to reformat the titles and artist names to something that looks pretty in EAC, but the limitation is that you can only cut and paste one line at a time, and it's very cumbersome.

I was bugging EAC's author, Andre Wiethoff, to add in some kind of support for pasting multiple lines of text into the CD Title data fields, but I guess he doesn't really see the point. For applications such as yours, it may be convenient...

In EAC, if I download music information from Freedb, but EAC doesnt display it, like composer, does that mean that the information might still be there?
