Ok guys, quick question for you. I guess I'm still a little new to the MPC arena. I'm currently using AudioGrabber with Andre's commandline version encoder, MP+ v1.7.9c, and I'd like to keep using AudioGrabber with a command-line encoder.

I thought Andre was the sole author of the MP+ program/compression scheme. Is this true? Is Andre still supporting the MP+ program or is Frank now supporting it exclusively? From what I've read lately it sounds to me like Frank is the sole MP+ supporter now. Is this correct? Should I switch over to Frank's encoder? Thanks.

Well, it's not purely Frank's encoder. Frank has done some great speed optimizations etc. but the core and Psychoacoustics is still the same work by Andree as 1.7.9c.

Andree shared the encoder source with few other people, and Frank is one of them. Andree is still in the lead of the project..

If you are not afraid of alpha version, you can start using Frank's builds.

Andree is busy with his real-life job, and Frank is doing pretty much all the encoder/decoder development at the moment.

Ah, and it would help if people start using the new name MusePack/MPC and forget the mpeg plus... wink.gif

Well, I don't want to start going crazy like I did with all the latest and supposedly greatest Alpha and commandline options of Lame. No thanks. That's the other reason, besides the sound quality, that I went with MPC to re-encode my whole 800+ Cd collection. I'll stick with the 1.7.9c unless there's a beta or better version by Frank that's better than the 1.7.9c. Thanks.
