Wouldn't it be nice if there were the ability to append to a track an audio clip which "announces" the name of the track? There could be the option in say Foobar, either to announce or not announce, the name/description of the track, before or after the track has been played.
I expect radio announcers may not like the idea.

I'm fairly certain i used a player once that spoke the name of the audio track that was played, can't for the life of me remember what it was called, maybe it was a plugin, but i do remeber that it was extremly anoying.

Perhaps it was a Winamp plug-in because I had one that did this.

I think this would be cool if:
a) You could turn it off when you wanted and
b) You could overlay the announcement overtop of the song rather than delaying the song for it.

Imagine it trying to pronounce Autechre songs tho...

There was/is a plugin in foobar for this, foo_tts, maybe a forum search helps.

Only problem with this is not all songs' beginnings are really overlapable. Good example would be Linkin Park's "Forgotten"

I began to think along these lines since I have ripped my entire CD collection to Flac, connected my PC to my main stereo and now really enjoy listening to music via Foobar in the comfort of my living room. However I find myself jumping up to check the title of the song that may be playing, especially as I am now playing tracks that I may never have played before.
In addition to being turned on or off it would be nice to be able to set the audible track identification volume to a very low level.

Good point. I like my electronic musak so much that often I forget that some songs have more than a drum loop for the first few bars. Some songs even have those "lyrics" thingies I keep hearing about!
