Full Version: I NEED shuffling
I need random songs but no repeats. I have read about the plugin foo_shuffle here and that it can crash sometimes. I'm willing to deal with that as long as I can have shuffle mode. I can't find foo_shuffle for the life of me. I checked the popular plugin thread and the web site with them but it wasn't on there. I tried google and search on this site of course and then I thought to post here about it. Can anyone help me?
I don't know if it's the one you are looking for or if it will work as you want (I've never used it) but you can get foo_shuffle from kode54's foobar2000 plugins page. Look for "Shuffle control".

Ahh yes. That is the one I was looking for. Thanks. 2xG, I saw that thread before but the link to kode54's page from there is broken. Must have changed servers since then or something.

You might want to reconsider: more correct would be: "it will crash sometimes and take your entire foobar configuration down with it...

??? It has never crashed my foobar..
It's happened to me 3 or 4 times, but it's ages since now. Just take a backup of your config file now and then (which you should do anyways) and be aware that the problem exist, I think you can safely use it (I still do).
BTW. Crashes happened to me when I had history saving activated and history size set to 100%. Lowering history size to 99% seems to have fixed it for me....

Does anybody know if I can use TAGZ in the tag set? A thing like: + ($stricmp(%__play_counter%,0)
After creating a plylist with tracks that has playcounter = 0, I'd like to randomly choose the next track to play just among those still with playcounter = 0, but those that have already been played in the session will be updated to playcounter = 1 and I'd like to avoid them.
Maybe it already works like that, if it's really a shuffle and not a random...
I'll have to make some tests....

since i use the default config thats not a problem. hasn't crashed yet btw.

No.
While there is the preliminary track set selection code written for that purpose, it is not in use anywhere. It would also be a lot slower at picking tracks, depending on your playlist size.

But keep in mind fb2k could crash and kill your conf file. Happened here a few times, especially when using "shuffle tag set"...
