Full Version: 4U Mp3 converter: mpc to mp3

Is there a better and equally easy way to convert mpc files to mp3? Usb mp3 players do not support mpc and the sound quality of most (cheap) players used with small ear headsets is not so good to start worrying about the conversion of lossy to another lossy format.

4U WMA MP3 Converter is very nice but is there a better way?

Mpc2mp3 seems simple and it's freeware. How are the options:

"--prev --gain 2" for mppdec and

"--alt-preset cbr 160" for lame;

what do the "prev" and "gain 2" mean? And "cbr"? "Alt preset" I assume means nothing important.. 160 is 160kbps..

I rip with eac and the settings have been with 1.15v these:

"--quality 7 --artist "%a" --title "%t" --album "%g" --year "%y" --track "%n" --genre "%m" %s"

I don't use replaygain (if that "gain 2" is related to that?).

you can use the tool i programmed, Musepaxx , which i posted here.

it's like mpc2mp3 but it reads the ape-tags and passes them on to the lame commandline.

the lame-commandline looks like this, for example (for 3.96.1):
-V 4 --add-id3v2 --pad-id3v2 --ta "%a" --tt "%t" --tl "%g" --ty "%y" --tn "%n" --tg "%m" --tc "%c" - %d

I use foobar - it allows easy conversion if I right click on the track/selection in the playlist. Supports command line blah blah blah.

Edit: Oh, and hello everyone!
