I unzipped the latest 1.1 Vorbis .dlls and placed them in my Plextor folder, hoping that it would upgrade the same way the LAME .dll upgraded, but Plextor still rips with the old Xiph.Org libVorbis 20020717 that came with it.
Is there any way to upgrade the .ogg encoder for this?
I believe they have to use an external .dll for the mp3 otherwise there would be a license fee for plextools. As far as I know, the rest of the encoding libraries are statically linked in the binary and there is no way to upgrade them.
I could be wrong, but if there is a way I'd like to know how as well. I'm sure if the feature is implemented, it will be implemented in Plextools Professional XL first (or exclusively).
Well since I didn't get an answer eariler, I went ahead and made a toll-free call to Plextor tech support and found out you basically have to download the latest update (v2.21) from:
http://www.plextor.com/english/support/PTP_history.htm... in order to get the latest Vorbis encoder that's available to them. Apparently just adding .dlls to the PlexTools folder won't work since the encoders are, as you say, statically linked in their binary.
I've already downloaded it and was pleasantly surprised to find a FLAC option that wasn't there with v2.17
Haven't ripped with .ogg yet to see what version they're using, but I'll keep ya'll posted....
