Full Version: Damaged WAV File: How can I fix it?

I am trying to listen to a WAV file recorded using iTalk on my iPod. When I try to play it with QuickTime, I get this message:

"Couldn't open the file '20050408 111626.wav' because the sound information was in a bad or damaged format."

iTunes won't import it. VLC doesn't work. I've also tried Audacity in various ways, all unsuccessful.

I REALLY need to listen to this file.

Any suggestions?

For more info on the plight of this WAV file, go here.

Thanks,
Dan

If you know the exact format (ie 44.1 2ch 16-bit), and it's PCM, you can import the file into a sound editor as a raw audio file, and you can plug in the format values yourself. The first few samples will be noise because of the header, but if you get it right, the rest should be legible. (If you get it wrong, be careful not to blow your speakers.)

Let me perface my comments by saying that I know nothing about iTalk, iPod, Quicktime, or even Apple computers in general. So, one simple question for you. If you recorded it on the iPod, can you play it on the iPod? If the answer is no, you have my condolences.
