I recently installed foobar2000 normal (v0.8.3) and since then I can hear that the output sound quality is bad (worse than before)

I play the same old mp3:s with the same old soundcard. It sounds ok in Windows media player, but in foobar the mid-range up to the high frequencies feels a little distorted.

I was running foobar 2000 v0.8.1 before and it sounded great. Is there something in the preferences that I've missed?

Did you use DSP components before that you don't have enabled now?

No, no DSP components are enabled, but I think I've got it:
I changed the output from waveOut to DirectSound 2, it helped...
