I am using iRiver ihp-120 harddisk player. But manager program is so inconvenient. So I want to know howto use foobar with ihp-120. You know, copy&paste is possible in foobar. But directory structure is breaked.

Anyone who know the way copy&paste or convert in keeping directory structure?
In addition, auto converting is needed too. For example, mpc file or mp3 above 192kbps

I am sorry for my poor english skill...^^

thanks...

Try using the masstagger to copy files instead of moving/renaming them and choose the ihp-120 drive as the destination.

is it possible to keep directory structure with masstagger?
how? I don't know at all
please give me a information....
thanks for a reply.

Yes it should be, depending how (consistently) your music is organized. The simplest method would be to use the $directory(...) command to recreate the same directory structure at the destination location. If you tell me how your music is organized, I should be able to help you more.
I am assuming of course that the iRiver ihp-120 harddisk player will play music just by copying it on to its hard drive. I have never seen or used one, so I don't know.

E:\Rock\artist - album(date)

Jazz\artist - album(date)

Classic\artist - album(date)

Pop\artist - album(date)

I have organized my hard disc in this way, and want to copy "artist - album(date)" folders to h320's music folder.

The simplest way to do that would be to use this line as your output filename format in the masstagger
CODE
$directory(%_path%,1)\%_filename_ext%

Here's how to do it:
+ the 'Do What' field is set to Copy and not rename or move
+Create subdirectories based on \ and / charaters is checked
+Same as source file directory is not checked and it points to the h320's music folder
+ to create the new output file format click on the edit button. In the new dialog box that pops up, click on add. Name your new scheme and copy what's in the code section above to the format area.
+ Now that you have created your own output fileformat preset, select it in the masstagger and you should see a preview in the area below

Caveats:
+ This simple formating should work if all your files are in the directory just below the 'artist - album(date)' directory.
+ First try this on a small group of files to see if it works before doing any large transfers. I make no promises wink.gif, but I think it should be fine.

You probably already know this, but you can just use Windows Explorer to transfer your files. I find it very convenient to just drag n drop my folder onto it. Not saying you shouldn't use foobar, just informing you of the alternatives.

oh~. it works greatly. then more exactly, using %_filename% was correct.
thanks. you are genius.

That's true, if you're transfering whole albums (edit:) or a couple files at a time, but with foobar2000, it is much easier to find individual songs in large collections especially if you don't have all the meta data (search criteria) reflected in the file path so you can't use explorer (I guess you could, if all your files are mp3's and they use only id3v1 or id3v2 tags, but not if you use ape tags or ogg files).
