Full Version: Local Proxy ... To Switch Between Work and Home ..

I use my windows notebook, to connect at work, and at home. So each time i go to work, i have to edit Firefox/IE/Messenger/Miranda options to connect with the proxy at work. When i got back at home, i have to change it back to "no proxy". So my question is, is there some passthru local proxy i can install so i can then set Firefox/IE/Messenger/Miranda to use this local proxy, and have some profiles on the local proxy to quick switch proxy/no proxy/other proxy? Note: Mobile Net Switch is overkill.

EDIT: i found 3 more programs:

NetSetMan
NetSetMan is to change network settings, it doesnt works like i want.

QRoxy
ProxySwitcher LITE

Any experience with them?

EDIT2: so far, to do what i want it would be Mobile Net Switch, or NetSetMan AND QRoxy ...

Im a fan of 3proxy, and asked about this in their little forum for you:

timeperiod parent switching?
Can proxy be configured to switch between using a different parent proxy for different times?
(This would be ideal for using my laptop between work and home)

Yes, it can. For example:
CODE
allow * * * * * 1-5 08:00:00-17:00:00
parent 1000 http work_parent_ip 3128
allow * * * * * 1-5 08:00:00-17:00:00
allow *
parent 1000 http home_parent_ip 3128
allow *
proxy

work_parent_ip will be used as parent Monday thorugh friday 08:00 - 17:00 and home_parent_ip rest of the time.

Although its beta, ive not seen it crash - cant fault it for anything except being too configurable maybe. It comes with a default config file which isnt hard to get started on and that section would just need pasted in to go.

I suppose to switch at other times, could still be cumbersome, but it could catch normal hours eh? hth
