Hi.

The ADPlug Adlib Plugin port for Foobar is really great.
Tyrian songs, Digit Tunes and the Loudness Sound System format at all rulez!!!

Well, did you read the story about my effort to add Loudness Sound System format (LDS) to ADPlug?

...it was very difficult to figure out and find the author of the LDS format.

QUOTE("http://members.iinet.net.au/~vannevar/tyrian/music.html")
[...]You can also use the old RDosPlay program to listen to the LDS files. It was written by Roman Dolejsi who was located and contacted by Borg Number One. Roman had lost the sources to RDosPlay but he told Borg Number One that Andras Molnar (the original author of the Loudness Sound System) lived in Germany so Borg spent almost three years searching for him. Andras was able to supply his source code which Borg Number One passed on to Simon Peter who used them to add LDS support to AdPlug.
That effort is why we are now able to enjoy Tyrian's music in this format so thanks go to Borg Number One and Simon Peter for their hard work.

Because of Simon Peter (Author of ADPlug and me already working together all the time it was easy
to send the asm sources (which I got from [/b]Andras Molnar[/b]) to Simon,
to convert them to C/C++ and to add the LDS format to ADPlug in a really fast way.

Well, short time ago,
I heard that the Loudness Sound System format ( LDS ) also was used in
(DOS) executables on different PC magazines CDs

The executables start a menue that displays screenshots and descriptions of the CD content (in high resolution SVGA Vesa/VBE mode).

e.g. "PC Games" (in Germany)

Now, I am looking for persons who have got "PC Games" CDs
and I am looking for more (re)sources which use the Loudness Sound System.

Well, you also can check
http://chiptunes.back2roots.org/ for more Loudness Sound System and other tunes.

Excellent, now all I need is a variation of that code which can convert LDS files to MIDI files, complete with loop markers. I better get cracking...

CODE
      /*
       * Originally, in assembler code, the player first shifted
       * logically left the transpose byte by 1 and then shifted
       * arithmetically right the same byte to achieve the final,
       * signed transpose value. Since we can't do arithmetic shifts
       * in C, we just duplicate the 7th bit into the 8th one and
       * discard the 8th one completely.
       */

CAUTION: Genius at work. Somebody hasn't discovered what >> does to signed integral types.
